Software Available in the UMD Virtual Workspace

Overview

Several desktops and applications are part of the UMD Virtual Workspace. An example of each is shown in the image below. 

Remote Desktop Client:

Windows App:

Each desktop includes a set of software specific to the department or college requesting it. A desktop experience in AVD is similar to using remote desktop. A remote application (RemoteApp) will open a window that displays only the selected application. Some of these applications require an additional authentication step for elevation of privileges. 

Access for each of these resources is explained below. Most resources in AVD require users to work with their local IT teams for access. 
NOTE: To get help, click the three bar icon at the top to expand the navigating bar. Click the More Options icon (3 dots) then select Help.

Application updates: Many third party applications are updated regularly throughout the year. Some larger software packages (Matlab, Mathematica, ChemDraw, etc.) require specific versions for course work. These larger applications are generally updated once or twice each year (over the summer or winter break).

UMD Desktop

Access to this virtual desktop is available to the following groups:

Access to this virtual desktop is available to the following individuals:

School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation

The following software is available to students and faculty in the School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation.

Remote Applications

Lenel

Access for Lenel is handled by UMPD. Reach out to bss@umpd.umd.edu for assistance getting access to and using these applications.

 

AD Tools (RSAT, MECM, LAPS)

Access for these resources is handled by the WIS team. These tools are published in the UMD Virtual Workspace for OU administrators. View these specific instructions for connecting to these tools.
