Turnitin Originality Checker for Instructors

The Turnitin originality checker is an ELMS-Canvas integration that is deployed via the Assignment tool. Instructors determine such criteria as content resources for comparison, word count threshold, and report sharing options. There are two options for integrating the tool.
  1. Originality Checker option: This simple tool scans a student submission and flags content whose originality may be in question. To use the "plagiarism framework" tool, click on the Originality Checker checkbox in the Assignment options area.  The visual feedback on your students' work will then be visible within the ELMS-Canvas Speedgrader.
    • Instructions for using the Canvas Turnitin plagiarism framework tool (originality checker) is available through the Framework Instructor Guide.
    • Instructions for accessing and using the Similarity Report is available through the Similarity Report.
  2. Turnitin External LTI Tool: This robust tool not only scans student work for originality, but also provides access to the Turnitin Feedback Studio. The Feedback Studio facilitates originality checking, peer review, rubrics and QuickMarks for document annotation and feedback. To use the Turnitin LTI tool, select an External Tool submission type and then select Turnitin as the preferred tool when creating an assignment. The Feedback Studio would be used in placed of similar functions that are available within ELMS-Canvas Speedgrader.
