Capture the Document Camera Image and Actions

You can capture a single document camera image and save it in a .jpg format to a USB disk (the USB port is on the left side of the document camera base). You can also record your motions related to the object or image displayed under the camera head and save in an .avi format to a USB disk.

  1. Click once on the Capture button on the document camera base.  The image is automatically directed to the USB disk if one has been inserted in the USB port.  You can Capture multiple images during a class session.
  2. Click and hold on the Capture button until you see a small camera icon on the screen projection.   Any motion associated with the object under the camera head (writing on a piece of paper, flipping pages in a book) will be captured. End the recording by pressing the Capture button again.
  3. Review the files stored on the USB disk by clicking on the Playback button.
  4. Exit playback by clicking on the Menu button once.
  5. You can download captured images and recording files from the USB disk to your personal computer after class.  The files are stored within a subfolder, 100Media, of a folder, DCIM, that is automatically generated by the Lumens software on the USB disk. Note that .avi is a Windows video format that is not readily viewable on a Macintosh. An .avi converter for the Mac would need to be used to view or convert the file to mp4 format.
