To use clicker technology in the classroom, students must create a TurningPoint account with Turning Technologies and register their UMD license and (optionally) a device in association with the account. They also need to ensure they register using the same email address they use in ELMS-Canvas. Once students have registered, they can either use the TurningPoint app on their mobile device or go to ttpoll.com to access a poll.

Follow the steps below for completing this process and registering the account with an ELMS course space.

  1. Log into ELMS with your Directory ID and password.
  2. Click Clickers from the left side navigation menu.

    Click Clickers
  3. A new window for Turning Point Account registration will open. The email address, first name, and last name fields on the form are pre-populated. Enter an appropriate password and click Finish. (NOTE: the prepopulated field ensures students have used the correct UMD email address)
    Fill out the fields
  4. A verification email will be sent to your UMD email address. Check your email and click the enclosed link to verify your Turning Account. If you did not receive the verification email, click the Resend button in Turning Account.
  5. The link will direct you to the Turning Point Account creation page where you can create your account, obtain your free subscription, and register with ELMS. Complete all required fields as noted by the asterisks.
  6. Select "Student" in the Role field. Enter and confirm your password when prompted. The password must be at least eight characters long and contain one lowercase letter, one uppercase letter and one number.
  7. Select the box labeled By checking this; you agree to comply with the End-User License Agreement and Terms of Use. Click Finish
    Select the box By checking.....
  8. You will be directed to the student account page. Click Get Started.
    Click Get Started
  9. TurningPoint will automatically apply a license to your account. Do not enter a Subscription Code. Click Continue.
    Click Continue
  10. If you are using a Clicker, enter your Clicker ID. Your Clicker ID can be found on the back of a Clicker device.
NOTE: Mobile ID is automatically applied to your account. This ensures you can use the mobile polling application.
  11. A green checkmark will be displayed, indicating that your clicker account is linked to your ELMS account.
Your Clicker account is linked to your ELMS account

It is important to be aware that if students have previously set up an account with an incorrect email address or have registered with two email addresses - they must contact Turning Technologies' support to resolve this issue.
