Register a TurningPoint Account for New Students

To use clicker technology in the classroom or virtually, students must create a TurningPoint ("clickers") account with Turning Technologies and (optionally) link a clicker device in association with the account. They also need to ensure they register using the same email address they use in ELMS-Canvas. Once students have registered, they can either download a TurningPoint app on their mobile device or go to ttpoll.com to access polls.

Follow the steps below for completing this process and syncing your account to the ELMS-Canvas course space.

1. Log into ELMS-Canvas and sign in with your Directory ID and password.
2. Select Clickers from the course navigation menu. (Note: if you do not see a Clickers link,  please ask your instructor to enable it for the class.)
   
   
   
   
3. A new window for Turning Point Account registration will open. The email address, first name, and last name fields on the form are pre-populated. Select Paricipant and click Finish. (NOTE: the prepopulated field ensures students have used the correct UMD email address)
   
   
   
   
4. Select "Participant" in the Role field.
5. Select the box labeled By checking this; you agree to comply with the End-User License Agreement and Terms of Use. Click Finish.
6. Selecting Finish will direct you to a Welcome page. Click on Let's get started.
   
   
   
   
7. You will be directed to select the type of Subscription. Subscription is the correct choice. Click Next.
   
   
   
   
8. You will be given the choice to add a clicker number, purchase a clicker, or indicate if you are using a mobile device.
   
   
   
   
9. If you are using a Clicker, enter your Clicker ID. (Your Clicker ID can be found on the back of a clicker device)
   Unless you need to purchase a clicker, select the radio button next to "Only use mobile device."
10. A green check mark will be displayed, indicating that your clicker account is linked to your ELMS-Canvas account. Make note of your User Id number and click Next.
    
    
    
    
11. You will have an option to watch 2 brief tutorials. Click Finish when you have completed the tutorials.

It is important to be aware that if students have previously set up an account with an incorrect email address or have registered with two email addresses - they must contact Turning Technologies' support to resolve the issue before their grades can be sent to ELMS-Canvas.
